New QSAP cohort begins fall semester across global campuses

This fall, more than 80 Afghan students are beginning a new chapter of their education through the Qatar Scholarship for Afghans Project (QSAP)—a program that continues to open doors for young Afghans whose schooling was interrupted by conflict and displacement.

Backed by Afghan Future Fund (AFF), Education Above All Foundation (EAA), Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), the Institute of International Education (IIE), and the Yalda Hakim Foundation (YHF), QSAP has helped more than 400 Afghan students enroll in universities across Europe and North America since it launched in 2021.

This year’s cohort includes 70 students placed at over 25 universities in six countries, including Albania, Canada, Germany and the United States.

They are pursuing fields as diverse as cybersecurity, law, accounting, business administration, international relations and global health—areas critical to rebuilding Afghanistan and contributing globally.

“I’m excited to gain hands-on experience and connect with professionals in the field,” said Torpekai Ahmadi, who is starting a master’s program in computer science and cybersecurity at the University of Tulsa. “My goal is to support global organizations and help safeguard vulnerable communities.”

For these students, QSAP is more than a scholarship. It is a lifeline and a chance to continue learning, to plan for the future, and to give back. Each carries the hopes of their families and communities, and a shared belief that education can outlast war and loss.
